The Greater Nashville
and Middle Tennessee Restaurant Association, The Mayor's
Office of Hospitality and Tourism benefit fundraiser
for Hurricane Katrina victims was on Sunday, September
11, 2005 from 11 AM to 3 PM. The Downtown Nashville
Convention Center was filled with food, wine, music,
and art.
Attendees sampled signature
appetizers, entrees, and desserts from more than fifty
of Middle Tennessee's finest chefs and restaurants,
listened to inspired music, and viewed the artwork
of Tennessee's finest artists.
Among the musical highlights
was Louisiana's LeRoux's performance of its
signature song, New Orleans Ladies, to an enthusiastic
packed house. Other musical highlights included a
soulful duet with Jimmy Hall and T. Graham Brown and
the New Orleans Mardi Gras sounds of Big Chief Monk
Boudreaux and Anders Osborne.
One hundred percent of
the over-$50,000.00 proceeds benefited the America's
Second Harvest - The Nation's Food Bank Network's
relief efforts for Hurricane Katrina victims.
